Date: Tuesday 5th July 2016
Well today is the day we have all been waiting for..
This morning at 11am the British Olympic Association announced the 12 athletes that will compete for Team GB across the three equestrian disciplines of eventing, dressage and showjumping at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Woof Wear are incredibly proud to announce that sponsored riders Izzy Taylor and Kitty King have have been selected to represent Great Britain as part of the eventing team.
Kitty King will take Ceylor LAN (owned by Jackie Owen, Diana Bown and Samantha Wilson) and Izzy Taylor will take Allercombe Ellie (owned by Susan Holroyd and Frances Carter).
Izzy said “I can’t quite believe it and probably won’t believe it till we arrive in Rio and do the trot up. It has been a hectic season and we have just moved too! Ellie is a very special horse and I am honoured that we have been selected to represent our country. Meanwhile horses must continue working and we must try and organise ourselves in our new home. Unsurprisingly the horse side is almost finished however the house needs a little more unpacking!”
British team training has been on going with finishing touches taking place at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre later in July. The horses fly from Stansted Airport to Rio. All flights between Europe and Rio de Janeiro (GIG) will be non-stop flights with an estimated flight time of 11 hours and 40 minutes. The way back will be about 30 minutes less, the horses, be travelling the equivalent of business class in a wider stalls.
